Multiplayer is the main money making draw of the halo games by a long shot. They want to focus as much as possible on getting people to buy the console, buy the game, buy xbox live subs, and be online ALLLLL the time. That’s where the money is. You can’t really enjoy the multiplayer without paying for xbox live. Not fully and not really But that wont require you to pay for xboxlive now will it???

I’m sorry for you, poor fella, but you’ll have to get acquainted with the fact that The Master Chief Collection is not working. The Multiplayer is absolutely unplayable, and by unplayable I mean that physically it won’t connect you to any game, and if eventually you’ll manage to get in a game, most of the time you’ll get an incredible lag at the start of the match and the match will crash.
That’s at least what happened to me, and by reading some threads on here, I suppose many had the same issue. If you hope for a solution from i Here’s the only suggestion I can offer you:
Halo: The Master Chief Collection
MCC co-op — Mission Progress not saving? MCC has had a slew of bugs since launch. My brother and I, both new to Halo entirely, bought the game on launch day with the hopes of playing through all of the campaigns together via online co-op play. We thought the bugs were mostly tied to competitive online multiplayer matchmaking, but we tried to connect the first week for co-op just the two of us but couldn’t, so we decided to just wait a few weeks till patches came through.
However, this past weekend we were able to meet up in person and tried to play local co-op together.

While I have no way of knowing what the real problems are, if I can try to read the tea-leaves, I think the “tell” in every message posts about the problems is how they are, ” Perhaps there’s something about how the MCC engages Azure for this purpose is stressing ans breaking a very green system. Although, I suppose of that were true then we’d be seeing similar glitches in CoD and what not, so perhaps I’m wrong.
It depends on how they’re translating between Live and the game. If the game is essentially still expecting information to come into it in a manner consistent with the original Xbox Live or Live and they’ve inserted a “shim” between Xbox One Live and the game then it’s entirely possible that in a real-world application that shim doesn’t perfectly translate things into the way the game expects it.
From what we’ve seen of other games this generation I think that there’s quite a bit more control that the game developer has on what is actually running on the Live servers instead of “simply” feeding into a shared matchmaking backend. Combine those two types of issues and it’s not surprising that something works at small-scale on their internal test network which likely does include a private Live instance but breaks at scale.
It’s unfortunate and, between this and DriveClub, demonstrates that holding an open beta period to identify issues with multiplayer both technical and content-wise is going to become ever more important for games that either have a high expectation of multiplayer use or relies on multiplayer in a substantial way. I am reminded of an article that someone posted over in the X-Wing thread about the challenges that the XvT team encountered when moving their code into playing live on the internet:
Splitscreen The Co-Op Experience All of the games included with the collection feature co-op multiplayer. Some include co-op survival modes too. The campaign co-op breakdown is as follows:

There are some glitches that are completely game breaking, but affect only a small minority of players. There are some glitches that are relatively easily circumvented, but affect virtually all players. Any of these glitches would be widely ridiculed by the community of any game. But frankly, the problems that most players experience are far more frustrating, difficult to describe, and difficult to replicate than the glitches reported below.
A bug list is great, but I really don’t think that a community bug list, however comprehensive, is going to effect change on the level needed to address the community’s concerns. If anyone has an idea on how to help begin the comprehensive overhaul that this title really needs, I’ll be continuing to support that goal in the comments below. For now, I’ve run over the character cap 10, , and literally can add no more. I swear, this post actually started out pretty positive.
A request to active MCC players:
